These days everybody has one, from little kids to little old ladies. From the tiniest piece of mobile technology to the iPhone, or just a regular cell, people just love them. Or rather adhere to the trend of having one. It’s more than just a fad these days and it does have its benefits.
   But lately, I for one, have gotten tired of seeing them everywhere. If you’ve got a thriller, there’s a chance a cell phone, or several will pop up when least expected. Got something you want to share to the audience without having someone talk? Text message. Need a way to find the villain or hero? Trace the cell phone. Have a special little gadget to hide? Shape it as a cell phone. Want to convey that someone has an active life? Have them talking at a cell phone while driving. Have a bomb? Want to blow it up from a distance? Rig it up so it goes off with a call. Surpassed movie budget? Throw in a shot with a cell phone brand and cash will pour in. Everywhere.
   They even thought of making a movie out of it. Cellular’s star wasn’t Chris Evans, but the cell phone. In as many variations as possible. There’s cell phone while driving, while walking, while hiding, while shooting, while Evans is shirtless. The cell phone’s friends are right there too, including the charger, batteries and such.

   And I don’t think it will stop. After all, who uses a shoe phone these days?

  We all want to be one, don’t we? To hold the attention of millions, to receive crazed fan mail, to be stalked by paparazzi and make the front pages of tabloids. We all want that, don’t we?
  I remember (well, to be honest, I can only imagine, as I’ve been born long after) the good old days when celebrity gossip was just that, gossip, something that ran around in some circles, and definitely didn’t make the pages of countless magazines. Days when celebrities could go out in public without manic paparazzi desperate for a single shot hounding them. Days when a celebrity was more than some mindless, irresponsible, spoiled brat. But those were more than celebrities, they were stars, in the true meaning of the word. Stars like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Clark Gable, Ingrid Bergman, and the likes.

  I recall reading once an interview with both Michael Caine and Jude Law, in which Caine said, back in the day, he was never followed by the media, none of the actors, well known actors, were. Then again, he is British, and they haven’t yet reached the level of Americans as far as a “star-systems” go.
  And come to think of it, it’s not really any celebrity’s fault, it’s the media’s fault, for exploiting our very own need for idols. Idols it loves to make and break. Look at Britney, I truly doubt she was that disturbed to begin with. We’ve gotten to a point where our own hunger for celebrity gossip is so engrossing that we don’t care about what it takes to get it or what the results are. Luckily (though I can’t find it in me to call it fortunate) today’s stars seem to be coping with it (at least most of them), dealing with it by embracing it rather than denounce it’s foul stench.
  And despite all that we still want to be a celebrity, don’t we?

-The magazines’ first pages are dominated not by political or social events, but by the
latest news from our favorite stars’ lives;for example, the exaggerated interest shown to
the hundred million dollar twig(that’s what she looks like to me anyway), also known as
Paris Hilton(not that the whole “we like her, we don’t like her” attitude is not
interesting, concerning the blonde whose homemade adult movies have been more popular than Pamela Anderson’s)

-if you mention a movie whose title includes the word “Bambi” to a guy, his first thought
might just be that of an adult movie

-Arnold Schwarzenegger is still the governor of California(I do imagine some of the writers
of the screenplay for “Judge Dredd” had heart attacks seeing how close their prediction of
Arnold’s political career was), not that the ex-megastar isn’t capable of oing his duties,
after all he did manage to snag a Kennedy;we eagerly await Vin Diesel in the Senate and The
Rock(excuse me, Dwayne Johnson) as the vice-president

-The current James Bond is James Blond;who would’ve expected that?I predict Black, James
Black soon to follow

-Movies are out of control;last year’s “Evan Almighty” had a budget of almost 200 million
dollars;Yes 200 million for a comedy.Apparently humor is costly, they’re already pondering
a tax on jokes

-Say goodbye to books, Wikipedia offers a much more centralized information database than
you could find in any library

“Wikipedia is a Massively Multiplayer Online Editing Game played by experts in redundancy,
skepticism, pseudoscience, hyperlinking, reverting articles, demanding reliable sources,
redundancy, verification, redundancy, identifying original research (which is often quickly

-Women have been emancipated(ok, what follows might be a bit chauvinistic, but bare with
me), yet they continue to use their physique to achieve their goals;men would consider
breast implants but fear the homosexual attraction that it might lead to

-George W.Bush, a.k.a. George “Why on Earth act intelligent?” Bush is(not for long) the
president of the most powerful nation in the world;soon to be followed by Barack “Hussein’s
my name, don’t wear it out” Obama or John “Send more troops!” McCain.

-Hollywood stars have huge salaries;estimates show that Will Smith’s next salary will be enough to feed a whole African nation for a year, though the star has reported he will be using the money to buy Disneyland for his kids

-Not only the U.S. has questionable leaders;the French president was drunk under the table last year by the Russian president.Putin has apologized, admitting he did not know Sarkozy was a light weight, therefor he was wrong to bring vodka to the meeting

-The electric car, you know, the one that does not pollute the environment, is perfectly functional, yet the project has been terminated by the same company that started it, because it’s less costly to pollute.Rumors of alternative energy, far more capable than the petrol based one, have been buried by oil magnates .The latter still wake up every day looking themselves in the mirror and lying to themselves that the analists and scientists have no idea what they’re saying going on and on about non-renewable resources

-Sports are being dominated by coloured athletes;caucasians have apologized, stating that they are intimidated by the size of certain organs belonging to their counterparts

-The most powerful countries rally around the concept of disarming while developing new and new weapons.The US have announced the existence of an anti-anti-shield-missile missile;Russia is still at work on their anti-anti-anti-shield-missile missile

-Women are no longer just a group from which to choose our trophy wives, yet pagents like Miss World haven’t noticed, every competition not related to physique being mostly a joke.BREAKING NEWS:a contestant has dared wish for something other than world peace!
