Spam !?!

Spam

We all know what it is. We’ve all received our fair share of it, and quite possibly, most of us still get at the occasional unwanted message in our mailbox. It comes in all shapes, sizes, colours, misspellings and dubious offers. And yet can we imagine a world without it? A world without all matter of unwanted credit offers, penis enhancement, lottery scams and, well, porn (well that one usually is quite welcome, but you never get good porn from spam, do you? *sigh* )?
I, for one, cannot fathom waking up every day and not seeing those annoying mails. They’ve come to be an integral part of the Internet. And quite frankly, besides filling up your mailbox (and that’s only your fault, or a poor choice in email service) spam can be a lot of fun. Like those movies that are so bad they’re good. Tell me you can’t laugh at a spammer pretending to be a head honcho at a lottery and yet having no grasp on English grammar whatsoever, or at the kind of subject lines porn related mails have, and I’ll tell you you’re seriously lacking in the humour department. Even more, what will you have to awkwardly joke about the next time a conversation about the Internet opens up and you feel out of place? Sure, they’ll give you a funny look, but hey, at least you know something about the Internet.
Anyway you put it, no one can deny that with all its flaws and, well, harmful intent (not saying spam isn’t the number one cause for virus spread) spam is pretty much a part of our world, and dare I say it, a part of pop culture nonetheless.
